Pulmonary Alveolar Microlithiasis (PAM) is a rare, inherited disorder characterized by the formation of small, stone-like deposits within the alveoli of the lungs. These deposits, known as microliths, obstruct the airways and impair the lungs' ability to exchange oxygen and carbon dioxide. This leads to progressive respiratory symptoms, including shortness of breath and chronic cough, which can significantly impact quality of life.
